Press Release: National Accident Helpline Applauds Toxic Sofa Compensation

National Accident Helpline welcomes the landmark announcement that ‘toxic sofa’ victims are to receive an estimated £20m compensation for their injuries.

Victims bought leather sofas made in China containing the anti-mould chemical DMF (dimethyl fumarate) and subsequently experienced medical conditions including skin irritations and asthma-like symptoms.

Beth Powell, consumer director at no win no fee accident claims company National Accident Helpline, said: “We have dealt with a hundred enquiries from people affected by toxic sofas in the past two years. We know how much anxiety consumers have experienced, both over their injuries and how to seek justice.

“The announcement that compensation will be available shows that consumers don’t need to suffer in silence. Seeking help not only paves the way for possible compensation for injuries but also sends a challenging wake-up call to manufacturers and their retailers to consider their liability and responsibilities and review their practices.”

National Accident Helpline provides information on toxic sofa claims on their comprehensive website.
