Press Release: National Accident Helpline team breaks fundraising target
‘Team SMAC’, four work colleagues from National Accident Helpline, has passed its £6,000 fundraising target ahead of the London Marathon.
‘Team SMAC’ members are:
• Steve Walpole, sales support manager
• Mark Mullaney, client business development manager
• Adam Rhodes, commercial director
• Chris Higham, financial controller
The team aimed to hit the challenging target of £6,000 for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) which exists to find a cure for Type 1 diabetes and its complications, and is the world's leading charitable funder of type 1 diabetes research. About 350,000 people in the UK alone are affected by type 1 diabetes with over 25,000 of them children. It is a leading cause of kidney failure, adult blindness, stroke, heart attacks and nerve damage leading to amputation.
Adam Rhodes, commercial director, said: “We are, quite literally, putting our best feet forward to help this charity and the important work it carries out, often behind the scenes. Being able to pass our fundraising target ahead of schedule is testament to people’s generous support. For three of us in the team this will be our first marathon, so we managed to cajole each other along through our respective winter training schedules.”
