Industry News: Car crash compensation for 22-year-old
A 22-year-old has won compensation in a car accident claim after being paralysed as a result of his injuries.
Wasim Mohammed, from Walsall, West Midlands, was in the front seat of a car which was being driven by his friend when the accident happened. The car clipped another vehicle and hit a wall in 2006.
Mohammed’s neck and spine were badly damaged, and as a result he cannot move his legs and has lost most of the control over his arms.
The £11.15 million compensation is the largest ever personal injury payout in the UK.
The record compensation payout will pay for life-long care at £235,000 a year, plus a lump sum payment for his injuries of £4.25 million.
Mohammed’s solicitor, Daniel Herman, said: ‘the settlement is all he could have hoped for, but he would trade it all in to be able to walk.’
