Chemical Injury Claims
we are the UK's leading name in
chemical injury claims.
In some workplaces chemicals are used which may be corrosive, toxic or likely to cause injury in some way to employees who are exposed to them. Many of the chemicals widely used in industry can have side effects for humans although much may depend on the extent of the exposure. Some people may be more susceptible than others to allergies or other symptoms arising from chemical exposure.
Employers have the same duty to employees handling or working with chemicals as they do to any other type of worker - they must do a proper risk assessment of the work to be carried out, and if any potential risks are identified, they must take steps to avoid those risks. They should make themselves familiar with the risks and side effects associated with using any particular chemicals in their work places or processes. For handling or working with chemicals, this may involve restricting the length of contact, the provision of masks, gloves, and other protective clothing. If any employee has a known susceptibility to a particular chemical, and the employer is made aware of this, the employer will have to make special provision to ensure that employee's safety.
