National Accident Helpline reviews from road accident victims

Mr Stevens, 28, Surrey, was awarded £4,980:

"A car pulled out from a side road and hit me while I was on my motorbike. This left me with back pain and whiplash, a hospital visit and some time off work. I saw an advert online and phoned the number. The call centre staff explained the claims process to me clearly, and passed my enquiry to a local solicitor. The solicitor ensured that my case was handled in a straightforward way and I was very pleased that my compensation came through in six months."

Mr Davidson, Knotty Ash, was awarded £2,000:

"I was sitting in my car at some traffic lights when a car went into the back of me, leaving me with whiplash. I looked on the internet for help and, after calling the number advertised, was referred to a local solicitor. The process was handled smoothly and efficiently and my compensation came through in six months."

National Accident Helpline testimonials from work accident victims

Mr Eaves, 42, Ammanford, received £3,400:

"I had asked for a ladder at work to help with my job but was not provided with one. Not having a ladder led me to fall backwards and hurt my hand. The advisor who took my call spoke in jargon-free language, which I found very helpful. They put me in touch with a solicitor in my area, who made sure I knew what was happening and when. Not only did I get £3,400 compensation but my company is now taking notice of health and safety."

Mr Peter Lees, 24, Allerton, won £2,000:

"I had never claimed for anything before but, after badly cutting my fingers on defective equipment at work, I made a call. The advisor who answered my call was very helpful in taking me through how the process would work. They put me in touch with lawyers who were approachable and straightforward, and kept me regularly up-to-date."

National Accident Helpline reviews: slips, trips and falls

Martina Southall, 41, Dyfed, won £1,200:

"I slipped on a wet floor in a pub where there were no warning signs. I sprained my ankle so severely that I needed an ambulance. I then needed crutches, painkillers two weeks off work. I made a call and the helpful advisor listened to my situation and took me through how the claim process works. The local solicitor they passed me on to kept me up to date and won £1,200 compensation for me eight months later."

Mr Andrew Philips, Rotherham, received £6,000:

"The local solicitors who handled my claim after an accident at the gym made sure I knew what was happening at every step of the way. The case was settled in my favour and I was very happy with the £6,000 compensation I received."

Mrs Shanaz Akhter was awarded £1,250 after breaking a tooth on a stone hidden in a food product:

“I was eating some rice I’d bought from a supermarket when I bit on a piece of stone and cracked my tooth into two pieces.  I went to the dentist who said the only options were to remove it or have a crown which would cost £350.  I was in agony as I developed an abscess and was back-and-forth the to the dentist and the doctor.  I had to take three weeks off work and lost my earnings, too.  I called the company who sold the product and they were terrible – they just told me to be more careful when eating!  I’d seen the National Accident Helpline on tv, radio and the yellow pages and called them.  It was all very simple – they noted all my details and took into consideration my request for a female solicitor who was brilliant.  She was very helpful and considerate, even putting the case on hold when I had to go abroad for a family bereavement.  The whole process took about 9 months and I was awarded £1,250 which was enough to fix my teeth and cover my loss of earnings.

I’m glad I made the claim and I’ve recommended National Accident Helpline to quite a few people. I don’t think I would have claimed without No Win No Fee because if I’d had to pay, say £350, that’s the cost of the tooth repair anyway and I would have just used the money to pay the dentist."

John Lord from Barnsley was awarded £1,000 on behalf of his daughter, Emma, following an accident in a high street store:

“My wife and daughter were out shopping in a high street store. They were at the check-out when my daughter suddenly burst into tears and said her foot was hurting. When they left the shop my wife discovered a large security tag left on the shop floor had pierced Emma’s shoe and cut into her foot. She was only 9 years old and was very distressed. I contacted the store and they were terrible – they said they’d call to check how Emma was doing, but they didn’t bother. They sent her a £20 gift card but there was no apology. I was so upset with them I decided to contact National Accident Helpline. I was put on to a solicitor and within months they accepted full responsibility and Emma was awarded £1,000 in compensation which she has in a trust fund. I’m glad I made the claim and it’s good that my daughter’s got some money to help her in later life, perhaps when she’s at University, but to be honest a sorry from them would have been enough.

It would probably have made a difference if I hadn’t been able to claim under no win no fee because I’m awaiting an operation and am unable to work. I wouldn’t have had the money to make a claim.”

John Lord would award National Accident Helpline 5/5 for the whole claims process

Mr Clive Smart from Northamptonshire was awarded £1,500 after being attacked by a dog:

“I was going for a walk in the country when an Alsatian dog, about 10 stone, attacked me. He bit my leg and caused a large incision – if it had been a five year old child, or even a ten year old, he would’ve killed them. The dog had bitten before and was still off the lead. He belonged to a farmer and had escaped onto the footpath. The police were involved and were going to let the owner off with a caution and I was offered £500 compensation. I  decided to call the National Accident Helpline who put me in touch with a solicitor and a doctor who confirmed the incident had given me a fear of dogs.

The solicitor was great and kept me informed at every stage. I won a settlement of £1,500 and the dog owner was found guilty of keeping a dog without due care and control.  The dog is still alive and he now has an electric tag to alert the owners if he’s off the property, but I still can’t go for country walks. I’m glad I made my claim because the owner was prosecuted and not just let off with a caution, and I won a greater amount of compensation. I wouldn’t have claimed without no win no fee because the cost could have been more than the compensation.

I would give National Accident Helpline 5/5 – everything went right.

Philip White was awarded £3,000 after his mother fell while being lifted by a carer:

“My mother was being cared for at home by a private care company. She was being changed by just one carer when there should have been two to lift her. She fell and broke her ankle badly and ended up in hospital. She had to have the break set twice  because it was a very awkward injury. Before the fall she’d been able to walk with help, but afterwards it made it difficult for her.

I got in touch with the care company and asked about compensation. I said I didn’t want to go through solicitors – I wanted to do the right thing and sort it out with them. My messages were never passed on until finally they offered £200 - which would just about cover the car parking at the hospital. It was absolutely ridiculous!

I saw an advert on TV and decided to head down the path to National Accident Helpline. It was the first claim I’d ever made and I’d definitely recommend them. I had no problems at all and was passed on to a solicitor who dealt with the claim within 6 months. He kept in regular contact with me – I even had his direct line. We were finally offered £3,000 in compensation, but unfortunately my mother wasn’t alive to benefit.”

Christine Richards, 56, Warwick, was awarded £12,580 after breaking her hip:

"Although I was nervous and unsure about claiming, once I called the National Accident Helpline I was passed to an excellent solicitor who took care of everything. She was very helpful. After the accident, the hospital changed the speed of the doors closing. I would recommend to others about making a claim. I saw the ad on the TV and made the call. I'm glad I did. That's what others should do."

Mrs T from Lancashire won a case against her employer:

“I was attacked during the course of my duties at work. I was so shocked and upset I didn’t know what to do. I wasn’t sure if I could claim as it was against the employer and I was only working for them on a temporary basis. It all seemed so daunting. It was a very hard choice to make. Thankfully, a colleague recommended National Accident Helpline to me so I called them and they put me in contact with a no win no fee solicitor.

Initially, I wasn’t sure if I had a claim. However, what happened to me had a huge impact upon my life and I didn’t want anyone else to go through what I had gone through. After having the law and ‘no win no fee’ explained to me I realised it was my right to make a claim - what happened to me was not my fault.  I was entitled to receive compensation.  After I received my compensation, I was able to make a few changes in my life which is helping me with my recovery.  If I had been asked to pay any money up-front to the solicitor, there is no way I would have made a claim. I just could not have done it. I had no money to pay a solicitor.”
